worse for wear...

I feel a little like a real estate agent... maybe not a real estate agent, maybe more a construction company that sidelines in real estate.  I build a few houses on a hill then I remove one and replace it with another, then I fill them with imaginary families.  I am not too sure about the sky yet, it is quite hard to see in this picture but there is subtle colour there, but I don't think it is quite enough... so I will work on that.

I took my Christmas tree down today {the day before new years eve} I know there are rules and rituals about this sort of thing but... well... I just don't like the idea of starting the new year with last years Christmas tree sitting in the lounge looking a little worse for wear, it just doesn't feel right.  Has anyone else broken the rules or planning on breaking them?

Anyway I wish you all a happy and safe end to 2010 and a wonderful new year to come... xxx

I am a rule breaker too, my Christmas decorations always come down on new years eve.

I think just the same as you, I don't like starting a new year with the last years clutter around me, so Every new years eve I have a big clear out, including taking down all decorations :)

Happy Holidays, Katherine... and happy tree taking down too. I've been itching to take down our tree since Christmas day, but I don't think a certain two year old little girl would have quite the same feeling. I'm going to be lucky to get ours down by Valentines Day at this rate.

Love the little houses art. Makes me wonder what's going on in them and who's on the other end of the laundry line. And if they'd do my laundry too. :)

Take care, -Shelly

Your artwork really makes me happy when I see it! Funny you should talk about taking down your tree...I just looked at mine and thought it was time to dismantle it. Keep making wonderful creations and may 2011 be your best year yet!

My decorations have just come down. And I too am wondering what that family is up to, in their warm cosy home. cheers Marie

Hi Katherine... my decorations are coming down tomorrow, but mostly because I work the next 7 out of 8 days, so it's necessary. I've been desperately trying to finish organizing my art studio... a little spring cleaning in the dead of winter. Clutter makes me crazy!!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and hope you have a Happy new Year.

We are the same. This year, however, we didn't have a tree or decorations as we did not do Xmas. It was nice too. :)

Loving your houses!

open your front door at 12 and let the new year in.

Love your homes picture. We only got around to putting up the Christmas tree and decorations a few days before Christmas - how slack is that! Wishing you a wonderful 2011. I haven't forgotten the painting Ipromised you - it only needs some finishing touches - this year is going to be better creative wise for me :)

Love the subtle colors in your painting... I don't know about about any rules. I always have trouble letting go and have a really hard time taking down the tree. I was going to do it today, but it's so pretty I really wanted one more night. I put everything else away, but the tree still stands. Tomorrow for sure..... Cheers to you and hoping that your new year is filled with lovely things!!!
