in and out of days...

I have been flying lately, flying at full speed in and out of days and weeks. Goggles at the ready, propeller whirling like mad, raising my hand for anything that's on offer, forcing this year to its end.

But I need the world to be still for a little while, for just a moment so I can catch my breath... I don't think I am ready for the last year of my thirties, not just yet.

You needn't worry one iota, age is but a number telling us how we ought to feel. So ignore it! (I'll take my own advice in a few years) ;) xx

By the way, the image is beautiful! I feel like flying away too...

Not to worry, great things come at all ages :)
I remember the January of the year I was about to turn 40 and I kept thinking 'Oh, no.....FORTY, I'm so old now' and then in February my son informed me I was going to be a grandmother and my thoughts instantly switched to, 'Oh wow, I'm too YOUNG to be a grandma!'
haha...It's all in how we think I learned.
p.s. I have 3 g'kids now and they are all so much fun and at 51 I'm having more fun and doing things I enjoy more than any other time in my life so far. It's great ♥

Love your artwork!

Stopping to BREATHE OUT is so important, and learning to pace yourself,is something that comes with age I feel. How lucky you are to have that knob on your propeller to adjust the wind speed. cheers Marie

Well, having been there long ago.... I LOVED my forties, but the fifties are the best so far, at least creatively. I believe that you DO gain wisdom as you age as long as you are open to it and it definitely does put a different (better!) perspective on things. You have a looong way to go.... love your little flying girl!!

I too love the flying girl - I love all of your work. I am working at flying, but sometimes feel more grounded then I would like, and sometimes soaring a little too high..... but it is all good - and age truly doesn't matter. Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations!

I will tell you the same as Darla from Artistic Accents. It is "normal" to feel the way ypu feel right now. The 40 someting for me was scary but then when you are 50 you see 40 like a long time ago an d you see the pictures ans said..Oh my I was so young! I have learned to Enjoy each age by now. And I am doing more interesting things now. I adore being a grandma..a young grandma because I feel young and I am doing young stuff, too. There is this cute 3 years old girl who stayed for a month in my house that calls me beutiful mommy instead of grandma. That is really nice. And my grandson adores me. As always...I love your work!

Why are so many women so worked up about getting older? Life just gets more interesting and as you get older you get better at it. I turned forty this year and I love it! I hope I am lucky enough to get to know every stage in life and become a crazy old lady. (Yes, this is my ambition, to become some excentric strange old lady who dresses funny and talks to her cats all the time and who always misses a spot of paint somewhere on her face when she washes).

Gorgeous piece, Katherine!

Wait til you are mid forties - it's pretty cool!

oh, i feel you on the "last year of your 40s" thing- i was almost just relieved tho when the dreaded day came, and went. and rather than being a year older, i found i was only a day older, and it didn't feel any different....

This post is actually quite lovely prose and imagery. Changing the digit that marks our decades are always interesting and apprehensive thresholds, but don't fret about entering this next decade. There is actually something quite empowering about living your 40's but the fun is finding that out for yourself.

Your print finally arrived this week, and I look forward choosing a spot for it.

By the way, I noticed that you too are taking the 'Blogging Your Way' e-course; just as with Flying Lessons, I look forward to making new connections.

Glad to have found your blog! Your art is beautiful! I also didn't feel ready to end my thirties. And I just turned 41 this summer. I have to say I was weirded out by turning 40 but its really all how you look at things! What's that they say....age is just a number! :)

I look forward to following your blog!
